Transpose Columns

Data > Variable > More > Transpose

You can switch columns to rows (transpose columns) in your datasheet.

For example, you may want to change the datasheet structure as shown in the illustration below. The columns that contain angular orientation and signal strength are switched to rows.

Variable to Transpose:
Select the columns you want to transpose.
To select nonconsecutive columns, press and hold down CTRL, and then click each item.
You can select many columns. Use the Ctrl key to select (or unselect) distant columns.

Sheet Name:
Specify a name for the datasheet.
This may be a new datasheet or the name of an existing datasheet. Leave blank to store data in a new datasheet.

Include Row Headers:
Check this box to include row headers in the transposition.

Data

Data must be numeric

Example

Whitley and Ball reported data on the central venous oxygen saturation (SvO2 (%)) from 10 consecutive patients at 2 time points; at admission and 6 hours after admission to the intensive care unit (ICU). The null hypothesis is that there is no effect of 6 hours of ICU treatment on SvO2. Under the null hypothesis, the mean of the differences between SvO2 at admission and that at 6 hours after admission should be zero.

1.Open the DataBook nonparam.vstz

2.Select the sheet oxygen

3.Choose the tab Data, the group Variable and the command Transpose

4.In Variables to Transpose, select On Admission and At 6 Hours

5.Check Include Column Headers.

6.Click OK
